day 12, 13, 14

I've been really bad the last couple of days... just worn out and didn't get any pictures posted, although I did take some. Here are a few:

Cascade Christian Church at night. There's kind of a weird looking shadow on the bottom half of the church, but I still like this picture. You should see it at Christmas time with lights up. Darin helped put up the lights this year, and he claims it was pretty scary. Although I remember on our honeymoon thinking I was going to have to carry him down the trail at Multnomah Falls that we hiked up because he was freaked out by the heights.

Darin getting a little crazy at Billy's. I'm always trying to capture his jumping on stage but it's hard to get a good shot. This one turned out pretty good.

Another picture from the Billy's show. I like this shot of Rodney.

day 11

Check out this website: http://www.storyofstuff.com/index.html. "What is the Story of Stuff From its extraction through sale, use and disposal, all the stuff in our lives affects communities at home and abroad, yet most of this is hidden from view. The Story of Stuff is a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of our production and consumption patterns. The Story of Stuff exposes the connections between a huge number of environmental and social issues, and calls us together to create a more sustainable and just world. It'll teach you something, it'll make you laugh, and it just may change the way you look at all the stuff in your life forever." Pretty interesting stuff! A good reminder of what we are being bombarded with daily in our lives -- that life is all about how much stuff we have.
And now for another picture of our little Buddy.

day 10

Darin, deep in thought.

day 9

Church was cancelled today because of the weather. Darin & I were excited to have a whole day off together which is very rare! We went to breakfast at Wolfgangs and then came home excited to spend some time working on a song we're writing together. As Darin was getting stuff set-up, I ran down to the basement to start a load of laundry and discovered a leak. Long story short, the roof was iced up and water was getting backed up and coming in through the roof into the walls. So our time in the Darin's studio was cut short as we had to run and get a ladder and spend time trying to clean off the roof. But the leak seems to have stopped. We'll see. Anyway, this is a picture of Darin's drum set. I was going to take more pictures of us actually recording, but we didn't get that far.

day 8

The only pictures I took today were of darin's old house (which we've been fixing up over the last few months ... new siding, carpet, etc). We're getting close to being able to rent it out. So here are a few pictures.

day 7

Another picture of the piano. Sorry, it's Friday and I'm drained! It's been a long week.

day 6

Happy Valentines Day!! This is our piano which Darin aquired at some point (don't remember the story at this moment). Darin and our piano friend Chuck fixed it all up this fall. It is an upright grand and was made in late 1800s/early 1900s in Chicago.

day 5

This is another picture from Pastor George's installation service. This is Dr. Willie Jennings from Duke University Divinity School who gave the message.

day 4

This is a picture of our new Pastor, Reverend George Davis, at his installment service this past Sunday. Yes, we still had services in despite the terrible weather, and they were all packed. We have been without a pastor for a little over a year. We have an amazing staff at Cascade Christian, an incredible associate pastor and a pretty awesome worship leader, if i'm not too biased and they have really held the church together. Not to mention all the members who have pitched in to help. God has done great things this past year and I'm sure he will continue to do so through the church and our new leader. I'm excited to see what God has in store in 2008.

day 3

This picture was also taken on our recent trip to Grand Haven. It almosts looks real here. I wish it was, but I don't think palm trees can survive in the snow. It was another reminder of how I wish I lived somewhere warmer!

day 2

Darin and I ventured out to Grand Haven yesterday. This was the first time in my 25 years of living in Michigan that I've been to Lake Michigan in the winter. If you've never seen the lake in the winter, I'd reccommend it, although I'd also reccommend dressing a little warmer than I did. At least I wore boots, which Darin did not. But my hands were so numb at one point that I couldn't even operate my camera. Darin was much braver than I, venturing out fairly far on the ice. I stuck to where I could see sand in the snow and also where I could see footprints. I'm posting two photos, one which I took yesterday, and the other I took this past summer, to show just how far out the water is frozen.

day 1

So day 1, i'm going to cheat a bit by posting a picture I took a month or so ago, since currently all my camera batteries are dead. Which also indicates, I haven't picked up the camera in a while. This probably isn't a very good start to my goal, but it's better than nothing. This is Buddy, he a russian blue, and has to be the best cat ever. He belonged to my husband prior to us getting married, and while it took him a while to warm up to me, i think he loves me just as much as darin.

hello

My name is Emily, I'm 26, married to the love of my life, Darin, and I've decided to finally embark on the world of blogging. Photography is one of my other loves in life, however I haven't done a whole lot with photography lately. As usual, life gets busy, not to mention the cold weather in Michigan doesn't encourage me to get outside with my camera. So I have a goal, I'm going to post a new picture every day for a month. Maybe this goal will inspire to get out in the cold and take some pictures. Or maybe it will just inspire me to start taking more pictures indoors, which i've never been a fan of. So here goes, we'll see if i'm able to meet my goal.
